Memorial Day Weekend Around Our House.
After a late winter, it is finally warming up. We did not go camping this weekend like we usually would, instead we stayed at home and enjoyed a couple of quick trips around the house. Friday, 5/24, I took the boys on a drive to the summit of Guanella Pass and then back down to find a nice place to hike. There is still a lot of snow up high, if the road was not plowed we would not have made it above 10000'. We stopped at the Abyss Lake trail head for a short hike then back in the car, heading down to a nice, unnamed waterfall on Scott Gomer Creek. Sunday morning I took the boys on a short hiking trip near our house, to Deer Creek. This is one of the boy's favorite places to throw rocks in the river :) A "hiking" trip here usually results in more chucking rocks and sticks in the water then hiking, this trip was no exception. Monday, I took the boys and visiting big sister, Stephanie, on an off roading and exploring trip up the Geneva Creek Basin, near Guanella Pass. We had a nice time, the boys were able to throw a variety of rocks and sticks into Geneva Creek and I played with the Rover a little in the rocks and mud. All in all, a great weekend!Read More
